President Obama has been on a “charm offensive” for the past week, hosting Republicans for meals at a fancy Washington, D.C. restaurant and inside the White House. But why is Obama all of a sudden spending so much time being nice to Republicans? One “senior White House official” told National Journal that the president’s only doing it to make the media happy:
“This is a joke. We’re wasting the president’s time and ours,” complained a senior White House official who was promised anonymity so he could speak frankly. “I hope you all (in the media) are happy because we’re doing it for you.”
