On the dreaded NCAA Tournament “bubble,” the La Salle basketball team got their chance to erupt after hearing their name called at the end of a nerve-racking Selection Sunday.

La Salle fell in the Atlantic 10 Conference Semifinals to Butler, losing their chance at earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as a conference champion.

When La Salle was finally announced, the room broke into chaotic excitement, no doubt fed by the long wait of being one of the last teams announced.

The Explorers had not made the NCAA Tournament since the 1991-92 season and will end a 21-year tournament drought when they take on Boise State in a Tuesday play-in game for the chance to play Kansas State in the second round.

As their celebration suggests, it was well worth the wait.
