He’s urging Democrats to hold hearings on the draft amnesty legislation (when it is finally drafted), something Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) has said he doesn’t plan to do. If Rubio withdraws from the so-called “Gang of 8” as a result, that might doom the bill. It’s enough of an implicit threat to attract lots of attention even if Rubio’s just posturing.
