#UVAdormsearch was a hoax but the tweets were real and hilarious

An epic dash to dispose of all manner of beer, hard liquor and other potential intoxicants occurred on Monday at the venerated University of Virginia, the Washington Post first reported.

The catalyst for the hootch purge was a false rumor concerning a dorm-room-to-dorm-room administrative crackdown focused, apparently, on first-year students.

Naturally, students and others took to Twitter — #UVAdormsearch — to discuss, report and crack wise. The throng of tweeters included the student newspaper as well as Allen Grove, the dean of students.

Turns out the whole thing was a hoax perpetrated by unknown forces. But the tweets were great fun. Below, The Daily Caller presents the top 10.
