AP hacked: Tweets false report of WH bombing, president ‘injured’

On Tuesday afternoon, the Associated Press’ Twitter account was hacked, with the perpetrator sending out the alarming tweet, “Breaking: Two Explosions in the White House and Barack Obama is injured.” Shortly after, the AP’s corporate communications tweeted out “This is a bogus @AP tweet.”

The tweets come on the heels of Monday’s Boston Marathon terrorist attacks and the massive, deadly manhunt that ensued. The week was characterized by particular jumpiness in the United States, with evacuations and lockdowns on Capitol Hill and poisoned letters sent to the White House.
