Catherine Zeta-Jones checks into mental health facility

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 43, checked into a mental health facility late Monday night, according to a statement from her spokeswoman. The Oscar-winner is “committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner,” reports the AP.

This is the second time she’s sought intense medical treatment for her bipolar disorder. Previously, Zeta-Jones into a facility in Connecticut two years ago for a brief stay.

She has an extensive film and theater career, best known for her role in the film adaptation of “Chicago,” the movie “Traffic” and the Zorro movies. Her most recent projects have been “Side Effects” and “Broken City.”

She is married to Michael Douglass. The couple have two children.
