Walmart, the largest gun seller in America, has hired the advertising group that created Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s unsuccessful Mayors Against Illegal Guns media campaign, which aimed to secure the passage of expanded background checks in Congress.
Bloomberg’s group paid several advertising firms, including the ad agency Lighthouse Group, $12 million to create the television and radio campaign targeting Republican senators, reports Advertising Age.
Walmart retained Lighthouse Group to assist in its “Real Walmart” campaign, which will focus on the impact of the superstore chain on individuals’ lives. The prominent ad agency is known for creating stripped-down, intimate productions that feature people speaking directly to viewers.
