A California woman has decided to kick the nicotine habit in an unusual way.
Etta Mae Lopez, 31, plead guilty Thursday to slapping a Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy earlier this week, reports the Sacramento Bee.
Lopez said she assaulted the officer in an attempt to quit smoking, since tobacco is not allowed in jail. She reportedly waited all day for the deputy, Matt Campoy, to come out of the building before slapping him. “I stepped to the left, she stepped to my left,” Campoy said. “I stepped to the right, she stepped to my right. I stepped to the left again and she suddenly stepped into me and slapped my face.”
The 5’1″ Lopez was sentenced to 63 days in jail, three of which she’s already served. Campoy said, “We are hopeful she will be in jail for a long enough time to kick the habit or not want to assault anybody.”
