The only good thing about ‘SNL’ is leaving ‘SNL’ [VIDEO]

The only reason you tune into “Saturday Night Live” anymore is if you are too lame to have plans on a Saturday night, and to see if Bill Hader’s Stefon is going to make an appearance on “Weekend Update.”

Starting in the fall, you are going to have to find something else to do with your Saturday nights, because Hader is departing the show after eight seasons, The New York Times reports.

“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Hader told the Times. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.'”

No longer will the world be treated to Hader’s impressions of James Carville or Shepard Smith, nor his repertoire of game-show hosts.

The Times notes that both Jason Sudeikis and Fred Armisen’s contracts are up and could also leave at the end of this season.

“SNL’s” chief political writer, Jim Downey, is also leaving. He has been a writer for the show off and on since 1976, and has been the brains behind all of the political humor for nearly 37 years — including all of the especially memorable debate sketches.

This leaves basically zero good reasons to tune into “SNL” next season. At least we’ll always have Hulu.
