Israeli education minister Shiv Peron burst into uncontrollable laughter Tuesday after making reference to “penetration” in a speech to the nation’s parliament. The episode went viral in Israel, Reuters reported.

“Mr. Chairman, distinguished Parliament, the aim of this legislation is to deal with a serious phenomenon — the penetration of prohibited objects into prisons,” he said during a late night session on Monday broadcast on the official Knesset TV channel.

Mr. Peron, who was unable to get through even the first sentence of his address, lost control a second time when the word appeared again later in the speech, this time joined by legislators in his laughter.

Mr. Peron was unprepared for the address, but was called up after the original speaker was called away at the last minute.

He eventually returned to his seat, unable to continue.
