The New England Patriots did it; they signed Tim Tebow.

Tebow has been the subject of speculation over whether his short career is already over after a failed season with the New York Jets.

“Do you need to have him on the roster if you’re going to rub him like a magic lamb?” NBC sportscaster Ross Tucker asked Monday.

Tebow would only be a third-string quarterback after Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett.

Tucker also said that for New England Tebow had “no point being on the roster.”

Tebow is expected to attend minicamp Tuesday with the Patriots.

“Anything we do, we feel is in the best interests of the team,” coach Bill Belichick explained at the Tuesday press conference. “We’ll see how it goes.”
