Rough week for Bloomberg

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval vetoed a bill on universal background checks yesterday, saying it, “imposes unreasonable burdens and harsh penalties upon law-abiding Nevadans, while doing little to prevent criminals from unlawfully obtaining firearms.”

The AP called it, “a significant defeat for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control advocacy group, Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns, which spent hundreds of thousands of dollars working to get the bill passed.”

But the most biting criticism leveled at the New York City Mayor might have come from New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, who told TIME, “Frankly, I don’t think Bloomberg’s ads are effective.” Ouch.
