Former New England Patriots receiver Chad Johnson was released Monday after apologizing to a Florida judge for his courtroom tom-foolery.
Johnson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he playfully slapped his lawyer’s butt, showing approval of his lawyer’s work.
Chad’s lawyer was attempting to get him out of a probation violation, but due to his childish behavior, Chad ended up in jail anyway. With the apology, the judge released Johnson from the slammer after only seven days.
The moral of this story is that in America, apologies work.
