Immediately following the announcement of the Supreme Court’s decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8 on Wednesday, President Barack Obama offered his congratulations to the plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, who at the time happened to be in the middle of interview on MSNBC.

Chad Griffin, with Human Rights Campaign, interrupted “MSNBC Live” anchor Thomas Roberts to say “the president’s on the line.”

“We’re proud of you guys,” Obama said during the call.

Obama has demonstrated an uncanny ability to catch high-profile liberal activist before appearances on MSNBC. Last year, in the midst of her controversy with conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, birth control activist Sandra Fluke received a phone call from Obama shortly before an appearance on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”
