Alec Baldwin quits Twitter (again) after making bigoted comments (again)

Font Size:

I haven’t done a timeline, but there’s definitely a pattern. It seems to happen every 6 months or so, give or take:

1. Alec Baldwin says or does something stupid, angry, and/or angrily stupid
2. Alec Baldin tweets a bunch of hilariously crazy stuff about it
3. Alec Baldwin quits Twitter
4. Alec Baldwin returns to Twitter
5. Repeat

Taylor Bigler has the deets* on Alec’s latest amazingly entertaining burst of fury and subsequent retreat from view:

The actor and his wife Hilaria attended James Gandolfini’s funeral in New York City on Thursday. After leaving the funeral, Hilaria re-tweeted  a message that celebrity chef Rachael Ray posted hours earlier.

Daily Mail writer George Stark wrote a frivolous (and probably false) story about how Hilaria was tweeting during the funeral breathlessly entitled, “Alec Baldwin’s pregnant wife TWEETS about Rachael Ray and anniversary gifts during James Gandolfini’s funeral.”

Que Alec Baldwin’s rage blackout.

Strap in, kids…

WARNING: FOUL LANGUAGE, VIOLENT THREATS, HOMOPHOBIC SLURS, AND OTHER TYPICAL BALDWININITY

It sounds like this Stark guy got it all wrong, due to the peculiarities of Twitter’s timestamps. Baldwin is almost certainly in the right, and his wife didn’t do what Stark accused her of doing.

That’s one reason Baldwin won’t be called to account for his homophobic retort, or any of his other behavior here, any more than he’s ever had to answer for his various racist and misogynistic comments. Not that he’d suffer any consequences for it anyway, given his peers’ hatred of the Daily Mail and his own solid standing as a good little liberal.

Well, I say “little”…

Hang in there, Alec. If you need yet another screen name when you inevitably come back to Twitter, @ToxicLittleQueen is still available as of the time of this writing. But you’d better scoop it up fast…

(Hat tip: Twitchy, as usual)

Update: Oh my. Whether or not the Daily Mail got the story right (Note: they didn’t), they ain’t taking this one lying down.

Update:

*That’s short for “details,” which I could have just written out, and now I’m trying to explain it even though you probably know already, so I guess it was a bad idea in the first place. I’m sorry.
