Muskegon County resident Julia Merfeld hired a Michigan State police detective disguised as a hit man to have her husband murdered.

Two meetings between the two were caught on hidden camera and captured this shocking footage.

Merfeld was arrested after the second meeting with the fake hit man, both conversations occurring in his vehicle and lasting about 11 minutes.

21-year-old Merfeld told the cop she thought was a hit-man, “When I first decided to do this…its not that we weren’t getting along. But…terrible as it sounds, it was easier than divorcing him.”

Authorities attribute another motive: her 27-year-old husband’s $400,000 life insurance policy. Merfeld planned to use some of the life insurance money to pay the hit man’s fee, she told him.

In this astonishing footage, the young wife discusses possible dates for the killing in between laughs and checking her calendar on her cell phone.

During the second meeting, she gives him a floor plan of the house and directions. She then tells him she wants it done in the most painless way possible.

The detective tells Merfeld that when she leaves his car it will be a done deal, to which the young wife responds, “It makes me sad.” She proceeds to leave the vehicle and wish the hit man good luck.

The man who tipped off police was Carlos Ramos, her co-worker whom she offered $50,000 to kill her husband. Instead, he called police, who set up the meetings with the fake hit man that led to her arrest, according to MLive.

The couple recently moved to Muskegon, MI from New Jersey with their two young children.

Merfeld is currently being held in Muskegon County Jail where she awaits her trial on July 30. The judge committed to a minimum sentence of six years and a maximum up to life in prison after she pleaded guilty to solicitation for murder on June 26th.
