In a news release late Tuesday, Fox News Channel announced Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be replacing Gretchen Carlson as a co-host on the network’s morning program, “Fox & Friends.”
Hasselbeck, long the in-house conservative on ABC’s “The View,” will be joining Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on their set at the Fox News studios in New York City starting mid-September. Carlson will be moving on to host her own afternoon show slated to begin early fall.
“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on ‘The View’” Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said. “She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
Hasselbeck will be departing “The View,” where she had been a fixture since November 2003.
“I have been a long-time fan of ‘Fox & Friends’ and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home,” Hasselbeck added in her statement.
