Global News CA conducted a poll Thursday asking readers to vote on the potential purchase of Detroit after the city filed for the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, presenting its reader with a list of pros and cons.

The most important things to consider? Sports franchises and rock stars.

“The Good” includes the future “Canadian” Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings.

Also, the Detroit Lions could become Canada’s first NFL team.

Because the Canadians are allegedly tired of only being known for producing pop stars Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber, Global News points out that several American stars could add to their musical credibility such as Eminem, Iggy Pop, Jack White, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and America’s Son, Kid Rock.

Global News considers “The Bad” to be Detroit’s sky-high crime rate, using FBI statistics cite the 15,245 instances of violent crime in 2011, and then zeroing in on specific murder and manslaughter numbers.

The poll gives voters five options: “Yes,” “No,” “Only if we’re able to get rid of the guns,” “Don’t we have our own debt to worry about?” and, finally, “Should Canada just pitch in and help their neighbor?”

No majority has been reached, though “Yes” has the highest vote at 36.8 percent, with barely 3.5 percent holding the view that the Canucks should just pitch in and help their neighboring city.
