Stephen Colbert relentlessly laid into sock lover and disgraced former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer during “The Colbert Report” Thursday night.
Colbert grilled Spitzer about his qualifications for the position, asking, “Shouldn’t the job of comptroller go to someone who has shown a modicum of self-comptrol?”
Spitzer laughed nervously as the host asked that because he was once the governor taken down by a prostitution scandal, “Aren’t you at once and the same time above and below this job?”
At the end of the interview, Colbert noted that Spitzer is far ahead in the polls. “It seem that voters are more forgiving than they used to be. Do you think that signals progress for our country or the slow decay of our moral values?”
As Spitzer nervously giggled, Cobert warned that “This ain’t Charlie Rose, motherfucker!”
