Political talkers Sean Hannity and Joe Scarborough are trading blows over Trayvon Martin’s personal history.

Last Friday on his radio show, Hannity asked if President Barack Obama compared himself to Trayvon Martin in his impromptu remarks on the George Zimmerman murder trial verdict because “he smoked pot” and “did a little blow.”

On Monday morning, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough took to his “Morning Joe” show to condemn Hannity for those remarks.

“Really?” Scarborough said. “Is that the new standard? Would we like to go across college campuses in America and tell all white boys that if they have marijuana in their system, then they’re fair game?”

“‘I hear he had marijuana in his system,’” Scarborough added. “You’ve seen ‘Reefer Madness.’ You know what happens. Really, really? In 2013, Sean? Come on. Whatever excuse there is to say this young black man had it coming to him — that is the defense. Because there is no defense for shooting down a young black man, in a middle class neighborhood, armed with Skittles.”

Later that day, Hannity reacted to Scarborough’s remarks on his radio.

“What gets interesting here is ‘Morning ‘Liberal’ Joe’ over at MSNBC attacked me,” Hannity said. “Did he attack his own network for editing the tape that edited out the question from the 911 operator? Is he black, white or Hispanic? I don’t know. I haven’t heard that. Did he ever attack any of his fellow hosts on MSNBC? Rev. Al Sharpton, known for Tawana Brawley and Freddy’s on 125th Street in New York? … Did Mr. ‘Morning Liberal Joe,’ Mr. Courageous criticize any of his fellow hosts, liberal Joe?”

Hannity went on to point out Scarborough’s failures at talk radio and his failed bid in MSNBC primetime, when he was scheduled against then-9 p.m. Fox News Channel program “Hannity & Colmes.”

“The problem here is ever since he cut his political career short, ‘Morning Liberal Joe’ has performed pretty poorly everywhere,” Hannity said. “And he begged Fox for a job. Fox didn’t want him and he goes over with all his liberal friends at MSNBC. And I think his total audience is 400,000. I mean, I even read last week this new CNN show is beating him. So I guess he has got to gin up some publicity for himself by attacking me. He trashes conservatives all the time and claims he’s a conservative, goes after talk radio all the time. He’s become pretty much a big government , big gun control liberal because that’s where his paycheck comes from. It’s pretty sad this is what has become of him.”

Scarborough has said he doesn’t watch his own network after 9 a.m., and according Hannity that’s apparent, because he’s ignoring the rhetoric from fellow MSNBC hosts.

“You keep selling your soul for a paycheck by attacking real conservatives and ignoring the radical voices on your own network,” Hannity added. “We really don’t need lectures from Joe Scarborough.”
