The CIA has been routinely subjecting its operatives to polygraph tests in order to keep secrets from the Benghazi terrorist attack from becoming public, CNN host Jake Tapper’s program claimed Thursday.

Additionally, as many as 35 Americans were in the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya the night of the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack and at least seven were seriously injured, a source told CNN.

“CIA is polygraphing operatives regularly, in an ‘unprecedented’ attempt to keep Benghazi secrets, sources tell CNN,” Tapper’s news show “The Lead” tweeted Thursday.

“CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency’s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out. Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings. The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress,” CNN reported Thursday.

“The CIA responded to CNN’s report in a stmt, saying it ‘enabled all officers involved in Benghazi the opportunity to meet with Congress,'” Tapper’s program tweeted. “A source tells CNN that 21 Americans were working in the building known as the annex, believed to be run by the CIA…. Dozens of CIA operatives on the ground during Benghazi attack.”
