America’s ‘porn professor’ attempts suicide in latest stunt

The California community college professor who recently announced that he will no longer teach a course called “Navigating Pornography” attempted suicide on Thursday night.

Pasadena City College professor Hugo Schwyzer was visiting his mother in Monterey, on Central California’s Pacific coast, when he tried to take his own life, reports L.A. Weekly. He has since been placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold at a local hospital.

“I took an entire bottle of Klonopin,” Schwyzer told the Weekly.

Klonopin is a muscle-relaxing drug typically used to treat seizures, panic disorder and anxiety.

Schwyzer, 46, had claimed this week that he had become an emotional wreck in need of therapy due to public outrage and pressure from his college administrators to drop “Navigating Pornography.” (RELATED: America’s ‘porn professor’ abandons porn course just because people were outraged)

The notorious pornography course was supposed to explore sex and porn in a “safe space.” He made a few waves in February when he invited porn star James Deen to lecture at Pasadena City College. School officials decided to close the public lecture to the public.

There appears to be a very unseemly underbelly to Schwyzer’s foibles as well. The crude and sleazy details came out at a website called The Real Porn Wiki Leaks. (WARNING: THE LINK IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK)

In a nutshell, the married professor and self-proclaimed male feminist allegedly had some sort of Weiner-esque texting and masturbatory phone sex affair with a 27-year-old woman who regularly appears naked on revenue-generating internet sex chats.

The purported messages between Schwyzer and his sexting flame are simultaneously disgusting, hilarious and sad.

Schwyzer, who has tenure, was reportedly worried that the fling would ruin his career because he has been an outspoken critic of middle-aged “creeps” who pursue considerably younger women.

The porn prof has also had numerous physical affairs, according to L.A. Weekly. He is adamant, though, that none of the trysts – at least the recent ones – involved students or college employees.

The history and gender studies professor is also famous for proclaiming his theory that mass shootings – e.g., Sandy Hook and Aurora – are the result of “frustrated white male privilege.” White males are suffering from “cognitive dissonance” and feel “powerless compared to everyone else around them,” he had said, because the country is trending toward multiculturalism. While the merits of this argument are certainly debatable, Schwyzer definitely appears to know a thing or two about what motivates lunatics.

There was another suicide attempt 15 years ago. There were drug problems. He has been diagnosed with mental illness. His texting partner allegedly says his condition is borderline personality disorder, according to The Real Porn Wiki Leaks.

In a New York magazine interview, Schwyzer said his immediate goal is to tackle his persistent mental health problems. “I need to get my meds right,” he said.

“Mental illness is a bitch, it really is,” Schwyzer told an L.A. Weekly reporter.

Schwyzer, who led a 2011 “slut walk” and was voluntarily circumcised at age 37, also indicated that he hopes to bring his “Navigating Pornography” course back one day if his mental health ever allows it.
