Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday released a humorous photo in response to what is being referred to as “NoseGate.”

Earlier in the day, audio was leaked of his campaign manager, Jesse Benton, confiding during a January phone call that he is “sort of holding my nose” as he runs the Kentucky Republican’s re-election campaign.

Benton is a longtime aide to former Texas Rep. Ron Paul and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

“Between you and me, I’m sort of holding my nose for two years because what we’re doing here is going to be a big benefit to Rand in ’16, so, that’s my long vision,” Benton said in recording published by the Economic Policy Journal.

After the comment got attention, McConnell’s campaign reacted by releasing a photo on Facebook of McConnell standing next to Benton, holding his nose.

“LIKE if you agree: Nothing smells worse than #‎Obamacare! #‎NoseGate”
