Conservatives slam Cory Booker on abortion record

The American Commitment Action Fund, a conservative super PAC, and the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List jointly released a new ad Friday attacking Newark Mayor Cory Booker for his “extreme” abortion record.

Booker is the Democratic candidate for Senate to succeed the late New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

The online ad highlights Booker’s role as the co-chair of the Democratic National Convention Platform Committee, which did not include the past-used phrase “safe, legal and rare” in its abortion plank, and claims Booker supports taxpayer-funded abortions and late-term abortions.

“Cory Booker was instrumental in driving Democrats to make abortion the centerpiece of the party’s platform,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, SBA List president, said. “His extreme pro-abortion stance flies in the face of the majority of Americans, especially women, who oppose late-term abortion.”

According to an AC Action Fund spokesman, the ad is part of a $100,000 campaign against Booker.

The AC Action Fund has already released two other ads attacking Booker for his record as mayor.

Booker is the current favorite in the special election. A Monmouth University poll found Booker leading his Republican opponent Steve Lonegan by 16 percentage points this week.
