Senate Conservatives Fund attacks Senate conservatives like Jeff Flake

Republicans have a chance to take back the Senate in 2014, so the Senate Conservatives Fund (Jim DeMint’s old PAC) is busy helping oust liberal Democrats by supporting conservative rising stars like Tom Cotton in Arkansas.

Just kidding. They haven’t even endorsed Cotton. Instead, they’re spending lots of money on ads attacking conservatives like Jeff Flake (see his 100 percent Club for Growth rating) — all because he won’t support their quixotic strategy for defunding ObamaCare.

The ad begins with a canard: “Republicans in Congress can stop ObamaCare by simply refusing to fund it.”

Then, it gets personal. “Jeff Flake won’t stand up to President Obama and join conservatives in pledging to oppose funding for the implementation of ObamaCare. So what’s his excuse?”

It’s unclear why they don’t actually go after Democrats who, you know, supported ObamaCare.

In a world of limited resources, is this the wisest way to spend conservative money?
