Texas Gov. Rick Perry is Iowa-bound, in an indication that he is considering another bid for the presidency.

The Des Moines Register reported Tuesday that Perry will speak at the Polk County Republicans’ fall dinner on November 7.

“The Polk County GOP is very excited about hosting Governor Rick Perry for his first appearance in Iowa since the 2012 election cycle,” Polk County GOP finance director Darrell Kearney said in a statement to the Des Moines Register.

“We expect a great deal of interest in the fall dinner with Governor Perry, not only in Polk County but from all points in Iowa,” he added.

Perry joins a flood of Republicans who are making their way to the Hawkeye State to audition for the highest office in the land. Sens. Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have all made the pilgrimage, as has Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan will headline Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad’s birthday fundraiser later on Nov. 16.

Perry ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. He made a big splash when he first entered the race, but the hype quickly faded as he made blunder after blunder in debates. He finished in a disappointing fifth place in the Iowa caucuses and dropped out shortly thereafter.

But in an interview with Newsmax last week, Perry, who announced last month that he would not seek re-election as governor, said that a presidential bid was “still a very viable option.”
