Japan is the newly-announced home of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. It’s also home to a volleyball coach who has been caught on film repeatedly slapping a defenseless high school student upside the head.

The unnamed coach is a teacher at Hamamatsu Nittai Senior High School in Shizuoka, about 100 miles from Tokyo, reports the Daily Mail.

Footage of the vicious beatdown was clandestinely captured by another student using a mobile phone. The clip quickly went extremely viral on YouTube.

In the video clip, the coach spews a tapestry of abuse at the poor kid, smacking continually all the while.

“Don’t joke around, kid!” he says. “Do you understand? You’re stupid!”

Amazingly, the 41-year-old teacher also beat up another student the very same day.

Assistant principal Toshitaka Shiozawa pointed out that neither student suffered any serious injuries. He also said that the school may — may — punish the coach, notes the Mail.

The coach and the school principal have met with parents of students on the volleyball team and apologized for the slapping.

Japan has outlawed the practice of corporal punishment in schools since sometime after World War II. However, says the Mail, it sometimes still occurs—obviously.
