12-year-old is expelled from school for playing with toy gun in his own yard

I’m not sure I could come up with a more ridiculous headline if I tried. But it’s true.

Jason Howerton, The Blaze:

A suspended seventh-grade student in Virginia Beach, Va., could be expelled for the rest of the school year for shooting an airsoft gun with a friend in his yard as they waited for the bus to come.

Khalid Caraballo, 12, and his friend, Aidan, were suspended for “possession, handling and use of a firearm” because they “shot two other friends who were with them while playing” with the airsoft guns, WAVY-TV reported…

“We were in our yard. This had nothing to do with school,” the student said.

That’s where you’re wrong, lil’ pal! It has everything to do with school. It has everything to do with the government. Bad people do bad things with guns, so you must be indoctrinated into believing that guns are intrinsically evil. The assumption is that you’re going to graduate from harmless toy guns to the real thing, because you are not to be trusted. Hey, better safe than sorry, right? I’m pretty sure that’s a direct quote from the United States Constitution.

In other insane gun-grabber news, a uniformed police officer in Somers, NY has been stealing pro-Second Amendment signs from a guy’s front yard.

Wait, sorry: It’s not his yard. It’s the government’s yard. After all, the dude can’t get to and from his house without using roads built by the government, can he?

If you have a house, you didn’t build that. So don’t think you can put up a sign on your own property, or let your kids play in the lawn with a plastic gadget you got at Toys”R”Us, or any of that nonsense. That’s the old America. That’s dead.

You’re just holding back Utopia, you dumbass teabaggers.

Update from WAVY-TV:

Two seventh grade Virginia Beach students have learned their fates Tuesday morning after they were suspended for shooting [an] airsoft gun.

During a hearing Tuesday morning, Aidan Clark and Khalid Caraballo were given long-term suspensions in a unanimous vote. The suspensions will last until June, but a hearing will be held in January to determine if they will be allowed back in school.

Unanimous vote.

And it all started, as these things usually do, with a nosy neighbor:

This story that addresses Zero Tolerance extending to private property began on Sept. 9 with a 911 call from a concerned citizen.

A neighbor saw Khalid shooting the airsoft gun in his front yard. She told the dispatcher, “He is pointing the gun, and it looks like there’s a target in a tree in his front yard”…

The caller also knew the gun wasn’t real and said so, “This is not a real one, but it makes people uncomfortable. I know that it makes me (uncomfortable), as a mom, to see a boy pointing a gun,” she told the 911 dispatcher.

“I know it’s not real, but it still makes me uncomfortable. I don’t like being uncomfortable. You have to do something!” So now these kids are basically expelled from school for doing something that 90% of all boys do growing up. And this concerned citizen meddling, cowardly busybody remains anonymous.

God bless America.
