White House press secretary Jay Carney dredged up the birther issue to mock Republican attempts to defund Obamacare on Thursday.
“House Republican leaders have said that they will not let the country default. They have it within there power to ensure that that does not happen,” Carney said, ridiculing Republican attempts to stall Obamacare’s implementation. “They are the only, again, party to this discussion in Washington suggesting that raising the debt ceiling is conditional, and it is conditioned upon them achieving what, based on reports today, is an extraordinary laundry list of Republican perennials. You know the only thing I didn’t see mentioned was a ‘birther bill’ to attach to it.”
