Richard Windsor might finally be getting a day off. With the government shutdown, nearly all of the Environmental Protection Agency’s employees are being forced to take time off.

The EPA is set to furlough all but 1,069 of its 16,205 employees during the shutdown. Many of those staying on will be law enforcement officials and employees whose funding comes from sources outside government appropriations.

It is not known if top agency official Richard Windsor will keep working during the shutdown or will be furloughed with thousands of other agency employees while Congress hammers out a new agreement to fund the government.

The EPA did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment, likely because the press office has been impacted.

Richard Windsor is a model EPA employee, having been honored as a “scholar of ethical behavior” for three years in a row and has completed various training courses on the management of email records, cybersecurity, and a course that trains employees to be ever vigilant in the war on terror.

Windsor was also a close adviser and confidante to former EPA administrator Lisa Jackson. The two carried on numerous email conversations that were integral to agency policy and coordination with the Obama administration’s allies.

Both Windsor and Jackson were willing to reach across the aisle and work with congressional Republicans all in in the name of increasing transparency — one of the hallmarks of the Obama administration.

After Jackson resigned from office to spend more time with her family, she lamented leaving good people like Windsor behind, remembering all the good work they had done and the hope they inspired.

TheDCNF was unable to contact Jackson for comment. If the former administrator would like to comment please tell Richard Windsor to forward us your response.
