Is there a high school twerk team now?

Just when you thought these kids today couldn’t possibly be any dumber, they go and do something like this…and totally redeem themselves!

A Reddit user has alleged that Millennium High School in New York City is now boasting America’s first high school twerk team.

As evidence, the Reddit member posted a photograph of the “Twerk Team sign-up sheet“on Wednesday, quipping, “My school actually sponsors this, and I’m just sitting here wishing we had a ping pong [sic] club.”

In a comment, the user claimed the twerking team is actually sponsored by a teacher at the public high school in the financial district of Lower Manhattan.

It appears that at least nine students have expressed interest in participating in twerking as an extracurricular school activity.

The Daily Caller reached out to the Reddit user to find out what he (or she) thought about the club.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” was the response. “I was actually embarrassed for my school when I saw that so many people had signed up for this ‘club.’ I feel as if everybody who signed up either had no shred of dignity left, or was signing up as a joke, but it turns out that this is a legitimate club.”

UPDATE: In an email to TheDC, Angela Benfield, the parent coordinator at Millennium High School, said, “The student who collected signatures for a Twerk Team did so without permission from school administration or faculty.”

Benfield — and others — have noted that there is no — repeat NO — twerk team at the school.

She also noted that Millennium High does, in fact, hope to start a ping-pong club. The school is “still in the process of finding a supervisor for that club.”
