The prime contractor for Healthcare.gov will not comment on the record about the glitches in the system or the final cost to taxpayers.
CGI Federal Inc. — a subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. — declined to comment on the record to The Daily Caller Thursday about the problems Healthcare.gov has been causing users, instead pointing TheDC to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the latest news.
Healthcare.gov, the online Obamacare enrollment component, launched last week with a myriad of widely reported glitches and problems.
CGI Federal was the prime contractor for the federal exchange website, and the Government Accountability Office reported in June that that CGI had received about $88 million for its services.
This week, however, a Digital Tech data review found that while CGI Federal was contracted to participate in the construction of Healthcare.gov for 97.3 million, the government actually paid the firm more than $634 million — more than the start-up costs of such private mainstays as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
CGI Federal was responsible for the system’s portal, plan management and financial management portions. Other contractors worked on other aspects of the project, and those companies, according to the GAO report, were paid much less.
