Weiner now says NYT gave him the shaft

I really miss having Anthony Weiner around to flog at my whim, so it’s nice that Gentlemen’s Quarterly is still giving him a platform to explain why his fate is everybody’s fault but his own.

Erin Durkin, NYDN:

Anthony Weiner has found another person to blame for the implosion of his mayoral campaign: the profile writer who never explicitly asked him whether he had kept sexting internet strangers after resigning from Congress.

Weiner launched the trial balloon for his mayoral bid with an 8000 word profile in the New York Times Magazine – a largely flattering look at his relationship with wife Huma Abedin and his redemption after being forced to resign over his online sexual behavior…

“The problem was that the story was completely different from what we thought would be written,” he told GQ magazine. “I thought there’d be thousands of questions about the sexting. But there wasn’t a lot of conversation about that. We had a guy who wasn’t tough enough. We needed someone to just tear away at me. And not someone who would do something sympathetic.”

But what would Weiner have said, if specifically asked? He would’ve lied about it, of course. And then it would’ve been even worse for him when Sydney Leathers showed up. Hell, if he had denied it right from the start, Leathers might not have waited so long to ruin his chances.

Or is Weiner actually saying he would’ve told the truth? That he wanted to get out ahead of it? “Yeah, I’m still doing that stuff, and in fact there’s this young lady in Indiana…” If that’s the case, why did he need to wait for somebody to ask him about it? He could’ve just volunteered the information.

I think maybe Anthony Weiner is full of crap? Just throwing that theory out there.

Say, what is Weiner doing for a living these days? How is he paying his bills? Just wondering…
