WASHINGTON — Approximately 500 to 600 protestors donning Guy Fawkes masks marched on the White House and Capitol Hill on Tuesday, chanting “no justice, no peace” and brandishing signs condemning corporations and banks.

Protestors swarmed the White House, chanting, “Obama, come out, we’ve got some shit to talk about,” along with “Whose White House? Our White House!”

The “Million Mask March,” which urged the U.S. government to free intelligence leaker Bradley Manning, attracted the attention of D.C. police and the National Park Service. Two arrests were made as one protestor crossed a police line and another clambered over a Capitol Hill barricade to shake an officer’s hand.

Although the Facebook page dedicated to the event urged members not to engage in violence or take drugs, a strong scent of marijuana wafted across the crowd gathered before the White House lawn.

Christine Ann Sands, one of the organizers who planned the “Million Mask March” — which separated itself from Anonymous, who planned to demand the arrest of every member of Congress — told The Daily Caller that she did not want to inconvenience D.C. residents.

“Any law created against love is lawlessness,” Sands said. “But you don’t fight lawlessness with more lawlessness and chaos. You defend humanity with the truth. We don’t need to wreak havoc on the streets of citizens that are just going to make our brothers and sisters late to work. What we do need is truth to go after the guys who are holding the puppet strings and follow the money trails. I don’t believe lawlessness and chaos is the answer.”

The divides between the protestors and their aims did not disturb Sands — she called the widely divergent goals and views between the crowd “the beauty of freedom.”

“That’s part of the Anonymous movement,” she said. “But if you think that Anonymous is this group that’s going to do this, they cannot speak for the whole group in any manner, shape, or form, because nobody can speak for the whole group. And that’s the beauty of freedom.”
