Josh Groban misses Michelle Malkin, for some completely unknown reason

Social media can be treacherous* for a famous person, but Grammy-nominated warbler Josh Groban navigates it like an expert.

Last March, Groban ran afoul of some of his conservative fans when he tweeted the following about the Conservative Political Action Conference:

I remember seeing that at the time, and I didn’t really understand the big uproar. If somebody says you’re not funny and you get angry about it, you’re just proving him right.

But Michelle Malkin gave him a hard time about it:

And then the two of them got into it, and it was this whole big thing. She kept calling him out, he defended himself, and eventually they both realized it was a waste of time and moved on with their lives.

Which is why it was weird to see this tweet from Groban the other day:

What brought that on, all these months later? Weird.

His follow-up tweet was even more perplexing:

Huh. Why is “miss u bb” extremely offensive and insensitive? Even if he’s being passive-aggressively sarcastic to Malkin, for whatever reason, that’s hardly a career-ender.

Groban then gave us this further update:

Oh, okay. Groban tweeted something that he immediately realized he shouldn’t have, either before or after “miss u bb,” but some technical glitch kept it from getting sent? Well, anybody who’s ever been on Twitter has an idea what that feels like.

Wonder what the tweet was about?

Later that day, Groban said:

A fine and noble sentiment.

Say… aren’t Michelle Malkin’s parents from the Philippines?

Probably just a coincidence. But it sparked my curiosity, so I decided to ask him what had happened. After all, it’s social media. Might as well be social!

I was unprepared for the incisiveness of his riposte:

Ouch!

Having been bested, I decided to man up, admit defeat, and try to form some kind of bond with my intellectual superior. And that’s how this happened:

(Note: DM = direct message)

Unfortunately, Groban never followed up, and some of his more excitable fans became very upset with me. But that’s what I get. You know what happens when you assume: You make a ssu out of me!

I did try to make peace:

And we never, ever will.

So. That happened. I’ll give the last word to Michelle:

*No pun intended.
