Group behind ‘hosurance’ Obamacare ads attacked Limbaugh, state senator for ‘sexism’

One of the groups behind the Obamacare “Brosurance” ad campaign featuring keg-swilling doofuses is now trying to make the Affordable Care Act’s birth control subsidy seem hot and sexy in a series of ads.

ProgressNow Colorado, which is highlighting horny women on the prowl for men who are “easy to get” in the “got insurance” ad campaign, attacked radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh last March for calling one of the major advocates for free birth control, Sandra Fluke, a “slut.” Limbaugh apologized for his comments.

“Let’s Get Physical/ OMG, he’s hot! Let’s hope he’s as easy to get as this birth control. My health insurance covers the pill, which means all I have to worry about is getting him between the covers.* I got insurance. Thanks Obamacare!” the ad, part of the “got insurance” series, reads.

“Susie & Nate/ Hot to Trot,” the ad — featuring a woman pointing at her birth control pills next to a man with his shirttail out — identifies the pair, going on to offer a helpful asterisk warning: “*The pill doesn’t protect you from STDs, condoms and common sense do that.”

Susie and Nate are not alone. Another ad featuring “Ali & Flat Ryan Gosling” (a cardboard cutout of the actor Ryan Gosling) features Ali holding her birth control with the caption “Hey Girl, You’re excited about easy access to birth control and I’m excited about getting to know you. She got insurance. Now you can too. Thanks Obamacare!”

“Last week, Rush Limbaugh called a law student testifying about birth control a ‘slut’ and a ‘prostitute’ over the airwaves…. Just this past weekend, Colorado Senator Greg Brophy tossed his own sexist insults into the mix, defending Limbaugh for his vile comments and tweeting, ‘I don’t want to buy your booze, pay for your spring break or your birth control. Call your Dad for that,” a petition circulated by ProgressNow Colorado read.

ProgressNow Colorado said it got nearly 2,000 “petition signers and comments,” which it delivered to Brophy, the Denver radio station that carries Limbaugh, and the media.

And while ProgressNow Colorado is not a fan of words like “slut” or “prostitute” their ads have sparked a hashtag on twitter: “#hosurance.”

On the flip side Planned Parentood of Colorado further called out those people making fun of the campaign for “slut shamming.”
