Here’s something you don’t see everyday.

Karen Macaluso, a media relations specialist in Tampa, writes in to say that Chris Cox (clearly not the former SEC Chairman or the NRA lawyer) will be at the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial at 1:30 to receive his commemorative chainsaw. You read that right, no boring medallion – a chainsaw. Cox, as you may recall, was the one-man militia who illegally mowed and cleaned the National Mall during the government shutdown.

He’s receiving the chainsaw and other donations through CrowdItForward.com and STIHL, which is, of course, the nation’s leading chainsaw manufacturer. During the shutdown, Cox, a woodcutting artist in South Carolina, refused to accept tips for his volunteerism.

But now he’s agreed to accept the saw as well as funding for all the parking tickets he received while he was in Washington.
