The trailer for Disney’s “Maleficent” has arrived, and it’s awesome. Angelina Jolie returns from a three-year acting break to star as the dark queen in this revamped version of the classic fairytale “Sleeping Beauty.”
In the clip, Jolie stalks through the dark forest and summons a twist of briar thorns from the earth.
“The film reveals the events that hardened Maleficent’s heart, focusing on her early life, in which she rises to be her forest kingdom’s fiercest protector before she’s betrayed and seeks revenge by placing a curse on Aurora,” the Hollywood Reporter writes.
In addition to Angelina Jolie, Maleficent also stars Elle Fanning as Aurora, and even Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, as young Aurora.
“Maleficent” hits theaters May 30, 2014.
