Politico can’t get Politico to comment

What does a Politico reporter have to do to get Politico to comment?

Who knows? Because it’s not happening. In an in-depth story Tuesday on The New York Times “suffering a brain drain,” Dylan Byers reached out to his new executive editor, Rick Berke — the new Jim VandeHei — asking him for comment.

It’s always a little interesting when a media reporter tries to pose questions to his own publication. Byers was forced to write, “Berke, who will soon become executive editor at POLITICO, declined to comment.”

There was no internal discussion or drama, The Mirror has learned — Berke just declined.

Come on, Berke. At least cough up a quote for your own reporter.

I requested a comment from Byers.
