On Wednesday’s “Martin Bashir” on MSNBC, The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis unloaded on Georgetown University professor and MSNBC contributor Michael Eric Dyson for brandishing the race card in a panel about the Affordable Care Act.
Lewis talked how Democrats have been damaged by this law’s rollout and suggested Republicans should have an alternative. But he also noted that the failure of some aspects of the Obamacare policy will hurt future policy endeavors, including immigration reform.
Dyson’s took on Republican criticism by pointing to the controversial remarks made by Oprah Winfrey in a BBC interview last week, which she said that some of Obama’s detractors opposed the president simply because he is African-American. Lewis interrupted Dyson and a heated exchange ensued.
LEWIS: It took 10 minutes — 10 minutes to get to the race issue. Clearly that’s why Republicans —
DYSON: Sir, sir — I didn’t interrupt you when you were offering bromides.
LEWIS: I didn’t accused anybody of being —
DYSON: Hold on, I didn’t interrupt you. Don’t interrupt me.
BASHIR: Matt, Matt —
DYSON: Don’t deploy the very principles of white privilege to silence a black man on the panel because you don’t want to talk about race. So be quiet.
