Iran’s government television network reportedly broadcast footage of an anti-American celebration and the message “Down with America” while covering its Foreign Minister Javad Zarif’s return to Tehran after brokering a nuclear-containment deal with the United States and other countries in Geneva.

“IRIB is covering Zarif’s arrival in Tehran with a montage of anti American pictures. Subtitle is down with America in Persian and English,” BBC Persian reporter Ali Hamedani tweeted Sunday morning.

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) is owned by the government of Iran, which agreed to shut down or scale back some facets of its nuclear energy program while still retaining the right to enrich uranium. In exchange, the United States dramatically eased sanctions on the country.

The Daily Caller reported Monday that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, celebrated the deal and praised his nation’s ability to legitimize its nuclear program.

“I thank God that… the new government… was able to legitimize the Iranian nation’s nuclear program on the international stage and take the initial step in a way that the nuclear rights and the enrichment rights of the Iranian nation are acknowledged by world powers where before they had tried to deny them, and [the agreement will] open the way for future big strides in technical and economic progress,” Khamenei said in a statement reported by Far News Agency.
