Democrats: News media wants us to give up defending Obamacare

Borrowing a typically Republican talking point, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee charged that the news media is working against its priorities, namely defending Obamacare and electing more Democratic House members.

“After an onslaught of Republican attacks on Obamacare, the national media thinks it’s time for us to throw in the towel,” a Friday fundraising email read.

“They’re wrong,” the DCCC wrote of the media. “President Obama won’t stop working until every American has access to quality, affordable healthcare — but he needs our support to back him up ASAP.”

Republicans have long argued that the establishment news outlets tilt left, but now, under pressure for the disastrous Obamacare rollout, Democrats are stealing that line to rally support among donors.

The fundraising email also affirmed the Democrats’ priority of regaining the majority in the House of Representatives.

“The only way President Obama can make real progress in his second term is with a Democratic House,” read the email.

Friends —

You’ve seen the headlines.

After an onslaught of Republican attacks on Obamacare, the national media thinks it’s time for us to throw in the towel.

They’re wrong. President Obama won’t stop working until every American has access to quality, affordable healthcare — but he needs our support to back him up ASAP.

Here’s the catch: the only way President Obama can make real progress in his second term is with a Democratic House. That’s where you come in. Our FEC deadline is in 24 HOURS. We are still $330,000 from hitting our goal before tomorrow’s one-year-out filing deadline.

We’re not stopping at health care reform. That’s just one thing on President Obama’s to-do list — we need to pass a fair minimum wage, Paycheck Fairness to ensure equal pay for women, universal background checks for gun purchases, ENDA to stop LGBT workplace discrimination, immigration reform and much more.

But right now — we’ve got to blow this one-year-out fundraising deadline out of the water to show just how united and determined we are to win a Democratic House.

All gifts today will be triple-matched. Can we count on your support?

Thanks for your support.
