AEI study: Charitable deduction cap would have a large negative impact on giving

According to American Enterprise Institute head Arthur Brooks, the Great Recession has taken a toll on charitable giving. But the ramifications that could come from capping the charitable deduction would only exacerbate the problem. According to Brooks, “President Obama’s proposed cap would drop giving by 9 billion dollars in the first year alone.”

Brooks will present his findings and host a panel discussion on the future of charitable giving at Noon today at AEI. His paper is titled, “The Great Recession, Tax Policy, and the Future of Charity in America.” Here’s a teaser video:
