The co-CEO of Archie Comics’ says he couldn’t have discriminated against his underlings – because they’re white women.
In papers filed in Westchester Supreme Court, Nathan Silberkleit’s lawyer says a gender discrimination lawsuit filed against him earlier this year by a group of Archie Comics employees should be tossed in part because white women aren’t members of “a protected class.”
The embattled co-CEO’s filing also mocked the five employees’ claim that he’d used his “gender as a weapon” by yelling “Vagina! Vagina! Vagina!” during a business meeting.
“Plaintiffs fail to allege that any such comments were directed at any of the plaintiffs in particular, or they could cause extreme emotional distress even if they had been,” his court filings say.
The lawyers for the plaintiffs, who include Archie president Michelle Pellerito and editor-in-chief Victoria Gorelick, countered that Silberkleit used the anatomical term many, many times.
“[T]he word ‘vagina’ became somewhat of a campaign slogan and his preferred method of referring to employees in lieu of their names,” their new filing says.
How utterly disgusting. Reducing a woman to her sexual organs? In a business meeting? And then mocking the very real emotional damage he’s done?
I hope Ms. Pellerito, Ms. Gorelick, and every other woman who’s been harassed by this pig win, and win big. Shame on you, Nathan Silberkleit!
