1. Columnist opens up about his cancer. Washington Post columnist Michael Gerson shares about what cancer did for his everyday experience of life. But it sure is hard to hang on to when the cancer is gone. Read here.

2. A lucky thief. This HuffPost story mentions the Nervous Dog Cafe in my hometown, and no doubt that’s an appeal. But it’s also just a weird tale of a thief caught on a surveillance camera stealing from a tip jar. Instead of pressing charges, they hold a food drive for him in both cafes. Read here.

3. Writer wants CNN’s Jeff Zucker to shut up. I typically wouldn’t be quick to read a lengthy rewrite of a piece from another publication, but Politico Magazine has a piece out by Harvard Business Review‘s Sarah Green who takes a crack at the piece on Jeff Zucker written by Capital New York, Politico‘s new sister publication. Green goes to much trouble laying out all the reaction to Zucker’s big announcement that there will be “more shows and less newscasts.” What’s great about this story is the sourcing — she looks at a study and talks to people you wouldn’t expect like a London Business School strategy professor. Her big point: Maybe he should remember to care about current viewers and stop being so “loud” about the changes he plans to make. Read here.
