Late last week RedState Editor-in-Chief and Fox News Contributor Erick Erickson went to the doctor and got a shock. He soon learned he’d need to have his gallbladder removed.
“Went for a scan this morning,” Erickson wrote on Facebook. “This afternoon the nurse from the surgeon’s office called and asked me to come to the office right away. No radio tomorrow. I’ll be having surgery. My gallbladder has decided to die. But in about two weeks you just might hear me on your local radio filling in for a friend.”
Oh, excellent foreshadowing. A day later, he was home and recovering.
“Thanks for the prayers,” he continued. “Home from the hospital. More complicated than expected, but I’m now on the mend. Good night.”
While mending over the weekend, Erickson received the good news about filling in for “that friend.” He’ll be subbing for Rush Limbaugh over Christmas. Twitchy confirmed the news.
“I know it may sound silly, but I’ve only ever had one so called life goal,” Erickson said, again opening up on Facebook. “I always let God surprise me. Life is more fun that way and less prone to disappointment. But there has been one thing I have wanted to do since I was in college. Just one. And now I’m going to get to do it — spend three hours behind the golden EIB microphone. Glad I got that gallbladder mess taken care of quickly. I’ve got two weeks to heal up to be ready.”
Aside from looking forward to that EIB microphone, which seriously looks like a gigantic penis, he’s busy eating snickerdoodles: “Totally playing up this recovery to get my wife to make me snickerdoodles,”
