A drive-in sign for a Sonic in Belton, Missouri held one of the more offensive racist messages against a football team.
The sign read, “‘KC CHIEFS’ WILL SCALP THE REDSKINS FEED THEM WHISKEY SEND – 2 – RESERVATION.” Twitter user @DelShilling took a photo of it and urged others to complain to Sonic.

She tweeted out the picture three times, once asking for action, another time saying, “Wait…wait.. Let me guess – this is to honor Native people right?,” and another time asking Twitter as a whole, “Do you condone this?” Sonic responded multiple times, expressing regret for the message.
@navistarjj @AnaliFirst @DelSchilling This message is disrespectful and hurtful. Both the brand and franchise owner apologize for it.

Sonic’s Vice President of Public Relations Patrick Lenow, told NBC News, “In a misguided effort to support his football team an independent franchise owner allowed passion to override good judgment. The owner has reinforced with his employees the boundaries of what is acceptable and unacceptable. On behalf of the franchise owner and our entire brand we apologize for the offensive remarks.”
The Chiefs beat the Redskins 45-10.
