At America’s worst university, library employee filmed dudes peeing, masturbating in bathroom

Florida Atlantic University has found a new and exciting way to demonstrate that it is obviously the worst place in America — possibly the world — to go to college.

This week’s entry into the lengthy chronicle establishing FAU’s credentials as a pit of wretched awfulness involves a 40-year-old library employee who secretly filmed men urinating and, sometimes, masturbating in a men’s room in the main library on the Boca Raton campus.

The voyeur, Seth Thompson, then posted at least 13 video clips using clever handles such as “JERKING_BUD” on various porn websites including Xtube.com and Pornhub.com, reports New Times Broward-Palm Beach.

Thompson also named his videos. Titles include “My buddy jerking off in the stall next to me” and “A college kid and his dad taking a leak at a public bathroom.”

Police executed a warrant at Thompson’s home in August. At the time, a police affidavit says he admitted that he had, indeed, been furtively recording dudes taking care of business in the bathroom.

Thompson explained that he stored his voyeur videos on a laptop provided by FAU.

It’s not clear how Thompson made the videos. There was a peephole involved, according to New Times. Thompson was apparently in the bathroom as well, at least some of the time. A student who didn’t feel comfortable with Thompson around first tipped police off to Thompson’s activities.

Later, somebody apparently recognized an FAU student peeing in a 30-second clip posted at Pornhub.com. It’s not clear how this recognition occurred.

According to the police affidavit, Thompson didn’t quite understand that filming people peeing and masturbating in library bathrooms is a crime.

“He did not believe those video recordings to be serious in nature; instead, because of the anonymity of the victims, he downplayed his actions and attributed them to mischief,” the affidavit reads.

Thompson now faces criminal charges. He is no longer employed by the school, notes local NBC affiliate WPTV.

This incident is the latest in a perpetual series of humiliations for FAU.

In October, an FAU campus library employee — not Thompson — allegedly denied student Abdul Asquith’s request to check out a laptop for a communications class because of his feminine demeanor. (RELATED: America’s worst university continues to depress)

Earlier in the fall, the public, taxpayer-funded university summoned Dylan Bouscher, the editor-in-chief of FAU’s University Press student newspaper, on disciplinary charges for having the audacity to practice routine journalism. (RELATED: America’s worst university now punishes student journalist for practicing journalism)

In September, wackadoodle communications professor James Tracy speculated on his personal blog, Memory Hole that the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard in September could have been an elaborate hoax. (RELATED: Bizarro professor spouts Navy Yard conspiracy theory)

After the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings, the nutty professor took to his blog to question official accounts of the terror attack, arguing that play could actors could have been involved. (RELATED: Professor calls Boston Bombings ‘mass casualty drill’)

Back in December, Tracy advocated conspiracy theories about the Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. (RELATED: Public university professors join ranks of Sandy Hook conspiracy theorists)

Over the summer, the public school flouted basic norms of free speech by adopting a draconian “Free Speech and Campus Civility” policy which insists “that everyone in the FAU community behave and speak to and about one another in ways that are not racist, religiously intolerant or otherwise degrading.” (RELATED: Florida Atlantic University is still the worst place in America to attend college)

In March, the academic laughingstock tried to punish a student who expressed discomfort with a professor’s assignment to stomp on a piece of paper bearing the word “Jesus.” (RELATED: Florida Atlantic issues new groveling apology over Jesus-stomping)

Also last academic year, Mary Jane Saunders, FAU’s then-president, hit a student protester with the side mirror of her Lexus. The protesters were objecting to an agreement to name the school’s football stadium after a for-profit prison company.
