Gun Laws & Legislation

If a leftist shoots up a school in the woods, does the media make any noise?

As information about Colorado’s Arapahoe High School shooter started to trickle out in the hours following the shooting, one small piece of information had some major news outlets intentionally trying to scrub away certain facts about this disturbed young man.  According to the Denver Post, Karl Pierson couldn’t stand Republicans and in a recent Facebook wrote “you republicans are so cute” then posted an image that read, ”The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ‘em Die, Climate Change: Let ‘em Die, Gun Violence: Let ‘em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ‘em Die, More War: Let ‘em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?” He was also an “opinionated socialist”; however, the little tidbit about him being a “socialist” miraculously disappeared from the Denver Post news article.

Mediaite  called the intentional removal of the information about Pierson being a socialist a “stealth edit” by the Denver Post.  In their original profile of Pierson, the Denver Post had written, “Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as a very opinionated socialist.” Later the article simply read that his classmate described him as being “opinionated” with the socialist part suddenly missing.  This had Mediaite, and eventually Twitter users, questioning why they would remove this information from their article.

Do you think the media would scrub away any of Karl Pierson’s political beliefs if he had been a Tea Party supporter with a lifetime membership to the NRA?

In fact, when you look at the major gun incidences that have happened in 2013, many of them have been carried about by people with left-leaning political beliefs. Christopher Dorner, who killed four people and wounded three others in California during a murderous rampage, was an Obama supporter, and in his manifesto, had expressed support for gun control and commended California Senator Dianne Feinstein for her efforts on gun control.

Did you ever hear the mainstream media talking about Dorner’s left-leaning political beliefs?

Aaron Alexis, who shot and killed twelve people in September at the Naval Yard in Washington DC, was also described by his friend as a “liberal” who supported President Obama.

Did you ever hear the mainstream media talking about Alexis’ political beliefs?

However, following the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary shootings, many mainstream media news outlets covered the fact that Adam Lanza’s mother was a “gun enthusiast” who owned several firearms and often took her sons shooting at the shooting range – which could have put her in the category of a ‘conservative.’

In fact, NBC ran an article in which a friend of Nancy Lanza’s described Adam as someone who had a “conservative” worldview saying, “He was actually politically aware for a teenager. He was always very free-market economics and capitalism, as I think most people are in this country.”

Stretching for any type of conclusion there, NBC?

While all of these tragedies are horrific and should not be used to push any sort of political agenda, the liberal media and Democrats will use these incidences to further their own agenda; so it is necessary to point out that, many times, the ones who support liberal policies and gun control are, in fact, the ones behind these horrific tragedies.
