Well, maybe not so much “fat” and “lazy” but according to a research letter published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association, they are sedentary for much of their day. The news was reported by Bloomberg earlier today.

The story says women with an average age of 71 spend two thirds of their day not moving and pretty much don’t do jack for about 9.7 hours a day, which is most of their awake time.

In other female-related news today, MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinksi and co-host Joe Scarborough were on a rampage this morning to stop young women from insulting one another on TV. Mika said she wants the actual word “fat” banned from being used on TV in a derogatory manner. She also admitted that she called her close friend “Diane” fat to her face, but that was for caring purposes and not to put her down. So actually, that kind of “you’re fat” is okay. Mika said her friend’s life took a major turn and she lost a lot of weight. This was all written about in Obsessed, her extremely revealing book about her extremely wacky relationship with food. Incidentally, she also mentioned today that sometimes her sleeping pills don’t wear off when she comes on the air.

Scarborough intervened on that one: “Too much information.”
